Accepting Your Savior
Jesus came to earth to die for your sins. An amazing gift of grace for all mankind. But with all gifts, they must be accepted. Salvation requires acceptance.
The Bible gives us some clear passages on accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
.
Acts 16:31-34 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved - you and your household." Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God - he and his whole household.
Paul teaches in this passage that a person must believe in the Lord Jesus. We also see that a new believer was immediately baptized.
.
Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Paul shows us in this passage that a public declaration of the Lordship of Jesus is required for salvation.
.
2 Corinthians 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
Paul encourages the new believer to repent. Which simply means to turn around. Quit following your current path of sin and destruction and turn toward Jesus and his holiness.
.
Acts 2 is a great chapter to study about acceptance and forgiveness. Peter is addressing the crowd. He quotes a familiar passage to them from Joel 2. He concludes that passage in verse 21.
Acts 2:21 "And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Peter then goes one to discuss how the people of God had crucified the only Son of God. Then in verse 37.
Acts 2:37, When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"
Then in verse 38 Peter gives them their answer.
Acts 2:38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Peter makes it very simple in his response what people must do to be forgiven from their sins.

Other verses for your study:
Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
1 Peter 3:20-22 to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also - not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand - with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
.
So to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior you must first believe that he truly is the only begotten Son of God. You must repent and turn from your sinful ways. You must be willing to confess with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord and Savior. And you must be buried with him in baptism. Baptism is a beautiful display of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.
